I first had Bang Bang shrimp at Bonefish Grill, one of my fave restaurants in Florida. The first time I tasted the shrimp I was in heaven! The sauce is sweet and spicy and you probably already have all the ingredients in your fridge to make it. You can cook up this recipe as an appetizer but I like to serve it with salad as a light meal. I BBQ the shrimp instead of frying them which is much healthier and still really tasty.
So stop wondering what the hell you should make tonight and get barbecuing folks!
Ingredients (makes 4 servings):
- 5 spoonfuls of mayonnaise
- 3 spoonfuls of Thai Sweet Chili Sauce
- 1 teaspoon of Sriracha (hot Thai sauce, add more if you like it spicy)
- 2 green onions (scallions) chopped
- 1 lb large shrimp without the shell
- 1 tsp canola or olive oil
In a bowl mix the mayonnaise, Thai sweet chili sauce, half the portion of green onions and Sriracha sauce and set aside.
Heat up the BBQ on medium-high and oil the BBQ so that the shrimp don’t stick too much. Cook for about 3 to 5 minutes.
Remove the shrimp from the BBQ and coat with the sauce (you can also serve the sauce on the side as in the picture above). Top the shrimp with scallions. If you’re serving it as an appetizer serve over lettuce or Asian crispy noodles or next to a salad if you’re serving it as a meal.
